YOUR OPPPORTUNITY:

 

You will be responsible for the management of thermal well integrity across CNRL’s thermal development projects, including root cause failure analysis, working with internal and external stakeholders and stewarding the execution of thermal well integrity protocols. The goal of the role is to help increase annual production and reduce workover costs by decreasing the number of well failures.

 

 

 

You will be an effective interface between Calgary-based production engineers and field operating staff, as well as the Well Servicing organization; to provide technical guidance in various casing integrity log interpretations and analyses; and integrity data management and analysis expertise.  Additionally, the candidate is expected to act as a technical specialist in production technology and engineering aspects of thermal well operations and design.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?

 

• Owner of the CNRL thermal Well Integrity Protocols. Manage periodic updates of the documents as required

 

• Assist with field operations related to well integrity, including guidance in various inspection activities

 

• Monitor technologies being used for well integrity, qualify new technologies for internal use and gain stakeholder alignment

 

• Provide leadership in  well failure / root cause analyses related to well / completion integrity

 

• Fulfill the role of CNRL's AER contact on thermal well integrity issues / clarifications

 

• Prepare & present annual D54 well integrity presentation to the AER

 

• Prepare & present periodic internal well integrity updates

 

• Thermal well design and construction support 

 

• Development of a well integrity data storage protocol / system

 

• Mentor junior engineers on aspects of well integrity and production-related challenges

 

• Improve well operating life through innovative approaches to existing operating practices   

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

• 10+ years related oilfield experience, preferably with an asset integrity and/or well completions background

 

• Thermal production engineering experience (ideally 8+ years)

 

• Engineering degree and registration with APEGA is an asset

 

• Familiar with metallurgy, materials, failure analysis techniques, well design and well construction practices as applied in thermal recovery projects

 

• Innovative approaches to problem solving or troubleshooting will be beneficial to the candidate, both from technical and organizational points of view.
