The Opportunity

 

Skid Steer Operator (Class 1 license is a requirement of employment)

 

The role involves contributing to our scrap cleanup crew as a Skid Steer Operator and 1A Driver. Successful candidates will be expected to train for the position and will start by driving Class 1 vehicles for three to six months. After this training period, candidates can transition into the Skid Steer Operator role. Responsibilities include on-site material processing, removal, equipment transportation, and maintenance as well as job planning and communicating with customers. This role also offers growth potential towards more senior positions within the company such as the Excavator Operator and Crew Lead roles.

 

Location: Grande Prairie, Alberta

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Navigate to and from job sites.
  • Assist in loading and removing scrap material.
  • Engage with customers and assess pre-work site conditions.
  • Ensure crew equipment is properly fueled and maintained.
  • Drive an 18-speed manual transmission semi-truck.
  • Work with the Excavator Operator on maintaining the job list.

  • Demonstrates practical judgment and a commitment to quality work.
  • Proficient and cautious in equipment operation.
  • Positive attitude and adaptable to changing circumstances.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum 1 year of Class 1A driving experience.
  • 2+ years of heavy equipment operation experience.
  • Willingness to travel and work on the road.
  • Excavator operation experience is an asset.
  • Off-road experience is an asset.
  • Mechanical aptitude is an asset.
  • Supervisor experience is an asset.

 

This position requires candidates to

  • Have and maintain a valid Class 1 drivers license with a clean drivers abstract.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment screening including drug and alcohol testing.
  • Successfully complete a background check.
  • Work extended hours and travel to various work sites with overnight stays away from home on a 5 on, 3 off schedule (4 nights on the road and 4 nights at home).

Rate of pay: $100,000 - $115,000 Annually
